The Smart Ringswitch Express Select from Madge is a fully featured, highly customisable Token Ring based switch. It is predominantly intended for installation onto the small or medium network backbone, but would also be suited to installation in a high performance workgroup or network branch solution. The unit is fully manageable using the madge device management application, Trueview/32 which also can be used to analyse traffic throughput and overall performance throughout the LAN. The main chassis features three independent slots that can be occupied with modular connectivity boards; any combination of these can be used concurrently to create a cost effective switch configuration that is closely matched to the requirement of the networking situation. Modules available for this chassis include 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, ATM backbone connectivity, 16/4 and 100 Mbps Token Ring and Layer 3 switching. The unit includes an inbuilt CPU to facilitate high speed Token Ring and translational switching onto a Gigabit network backbone.
