The Madge wireless PCMCIA card has been designed in full accordance with the 802.11b wireless networking standard to ensure cross-vendor compatibility with other standards compliant products. The card can be used directly in a spare PCMCIA or CardBus slot found as standard on most laptop computers, or in conjunction with the Madge PCI Wireless Adapter Holder in desktop computers to provide network clients with a secure wireless connection. The adapter may be used in small organisations to provide a peer-to-peer, or ad-hoc wireless network where wireless clients communicate directly with each other, or as part of a larger network infrastructure where wireless access is managed with network Access Points and in the most secure example, with a Wireless Enterprise Access Server. The PCMCIA adapter card supports enterprise grade 64 or 128-bit WEP data signal encryption and uses 2-way EAP-TLS digital certificates to ensure that the confidentiality of the data it transmits is maintained. As a company committed to protecting network investments, Madge have ensured that the card supports a broad range of operating systems. |
